About my art

Art should be joyful, both to make and to see. I find this joy in painting using a variety of materials including acrylic, watercolour and mixed media. I love the flexibility and opacity of acrylics and the textures they provide.

I also love the whimsy of watercolour and the way it behaves fluidly and often unexpectedly. The tension between the expected outcome and what the medium gives me. I enjoy trying to deconstruct colours in unexpected ways and applying this idea to wildlife and pets, to encourage others to see the magic in the world around them. The same ideas applied to urban sketching give us an opportunity to see our own surroundings through a more whimsical lens.
